The Greek sculpture from Alexander to Cleopatra (Part II)

Sculpture grecque - Musée du Louvre, Paris.

EPHE launches the second part of a MOOC on Greek sculpture, with the support of the Musée du Louvre. The MOOC provides the necessary knowledge for anyone interested in the history of ancient art and classical archaeology.

The second part of the MOOC will take place on five weeks and study the period in which hellenism thrived from greek "far east", on the borders of India, to the city of Rome, which conquered the ancient Greece.

The entire course is structured by regions with situation maps which put the documents in close relationship with their environment. Animated maps help students understand that the history of art is rooted in time and place. Knowledge about the history of ancient art, especially sculpture, is part of an easy-to-remember geographical framework that restores works in their context.

The course is focused on mastering research tools and includes consistent reference to sculpted documents.
