2019 Arab Week

Ibn Al-Wardi's words resonate in the schools, TV channels and daily exchanges of Arab societies: "Never think of Ancestors and Genealogy / What you achieve is your only original soil". From April, Friday 5 to Friday 12, 2019, the 22nd year of the Arab Week at the Ecole normale supérieure will bring together those who want to promote a connection between the past and the future, and those who aspire to a personal act and hope for a radically new creation, without looking back.
 
What are the new views on the past? What can fantasy literature bring in Arab societies? Will the study of war make it possible to turn painful pages, or is this project condemned to the narrative of wounds? Is archaeology an engine of reconstruction or a search for the ancestors? What other possible worlds do the young students offer us? How does the LGBTIQA+ movement imagine and build a common future, another future?
