Lycée Henri-IV
Lycée Henri-IV is one of the most prestigious high schools in France. 2,600 students study at the school, which is situated on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.
Originally an abbey founded by Clovis for monks following the St. Genevieve tradition, the future Lycée Henri IV quickly became a hub for the dissemination of knowledge. Lycée Henri IV became the French Republic’s first high school in 1873.
Since that time, Lycée Henri IV has continued to burnish its reputation for excellence and openness, with its students garnering outstanding results in the baccalauréat exam and competitive exams for university and Grandes Écoles admissions.
In 2006, the school launched a Preparatory Class for Higher Education, creating the opportunity for students from lower income families to gain access to rigorous education programs such as preparatory classes for France’s Grandes Écoles. This socially-conscious initiative made it possible for a higher percentage of scholarship students to study at the school. In 2012, this program merged into the CPES Multidisciplinary Undergraduate degree created with PSL.
Lycée Henri-IV is therefore a key PSL partner, as it currently hosts the first year of PSL’s multidisciplinary undergraduate program. As such, Lycée Henri-IV is an associate member of EPCS PSL Formation.
