École des arts décoratifs Paris

The École des arts décoratifs Paris (EnsAD - Paris) is a public institution of higher education under the authority of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Its mission is to train authors and designer-creators in the broad field of visual arts, space, media, and design (Interior Architecture, Art, Animation, Graphic Design/Multimedia, Product Design, Textile and Texture Design, Fashion Design, Printed Image, Photography/Video, and Stage Design).

EnsAD - Paris is a multidisciplinary institution of research and creation in which the arts and the teaching of the arts are conceived as inseparable.
The arts developed there are considered not only as social productions, but also as social agents that contribute to the knowledge, evolution, and transformation of society. In tune with the lessons of past and contemporary art, as well as with thought and the sciences, the teaching of art at EnsAD - Paris is forward-looking. It stimulates openness to the future and to the hitherto unexplored.
Around 700 French and foreign students attend the school.
The degree course lasts five years. The School’s diploma grants Master’s status to its recipients.

The School’s research laboratory (EnsadLab) is comprised of several research groups covering the fields of art and design. Around 50 student-researchers and PhD students are part of EnsadLab each year.

EnsAD - Paris is a member of Université PSL. Within this framework, EnsAD - Paris participates in the SACRe (Sciences, Arts, Creation, Research) doctoral program. Its purpose is to bring artists, creators, and scientists closer together.

EnsAD - Paris is involved in structured partnerships, such as the Chair for Innovation & Know-how, supported by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation and the Chair “EC-AD” for eco-friendly conception supported by Nespresso France.

The School is part of a broad network of international associations.
It is also developing relations with 110 institutions of higher education and art universities around the world.
The School was founded in 1766 and will celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2016/2017.
