Social Sciences

Inspired by international graduate schools, the Social Sciences graduate program brings together the strengths of PSL University at the master's and doctoral levels at the crossroads of the social sciences. By bringing together stakeholders from the various PSL institutions (ENS-PSL, DAUPHINE-PSL, Mines-PSL), in collaboration with EHESS, the Social Sciences graduate program develops a variety of initiatives: training through research and personalized study paths, interdisciplinarity, and the internationalization of curricula and career opportunities. Backed by the best laboratories and teams at PSL University, the graduate programs strengthen the links between master's and doctoral programs and create new opportunities for student and scientific communities.

A five-year track from Master’s to PhD

Upon entering the Master’s degree program, each student will define their scientific project with the graduate program's faculty and researchers. Students will have an academic advisor and will be heavily involved in research throughout the program.

L’objectif  du  programme  gradué de sciences sociales est l’internationalisation des parcours de formation à la recherche par la recherche en sciences sociales en  partenariat  avec  des  universités  étrangères. Ce  programme  est  caractérisé  aussi par une approche interdisciplinaire et une   relation   intime   entre   recherche   et enseignement.
Plusieurs dispositifs sont mis en place, de la première année de master à l'insertion professionnelle après la thèse, pour aider et accompagner étudiant·es et doctorant·es.

  • Résidence d'écriture (doctorant·es uniquement)
  • Financement de terrains, notamment lointains (doctorant·es et étudiant·es M1 et M2)
  • Financement de traductions et editing de textes en anglais
  • Financement de participation à des colloques internationaux (doctorant·es et étudiant·es M1 et M2)
  • Coverage of access costs to statistical surveys via the CASD
  • Financement de formations à l'étranger (doctorant·es et étudiant·es M1 et M2)

Complementary university-wide courses

Graduate program students at both the Master’s and PhD level have access to university-wide trainings in core competencies, both introductory and advanced, designed to supplement their academic study.
Those complementary university-wide courses, available in all of PSL’s component schools, are eligible for ECTS credit.
