The winners of the first Humanities and social sciences (SHS) PSL Thesis Prize

On May 14, under the chairmanship of Patrick Boucheron (professor at the Collège de France) the jury of the SHS PSL Dissertation Prize rewarded five doctoral works of excellence in Arts and Aesthetics - Law, Economics Management - Humanities - Interfaces Sciences / Humanities - Social Sciences. The awards ceremony will be held on June 13th at 6 p.m. at the ENS.

Launched last October with the support of Labex Hastec, Tepsis and TransferS and Interdisciplinary and Strategic Research Initiatives "Creation, Cognition and Society", "Global Studies", "Governance Analytics" and "Scripta", the PSL prize in Humanities and Social Sciences rewards the best doctoral work. Nearly 300 applications were submitted by young doctors from French and international universities and colleges. The juries selected five winners and awarded 18 special mentions.

Humanities Award

  • Adèle SUTRE: "Du parcours du monde à son invention. Géographies tsiganes en Amérique du Nord des années 1880 aux années 1950", EHESS.

Sciences / Humanities Interface Award

  • Murielle FABRE: "The sentence as a cognitive object. The Neural underpinnings of syntactic complexity in Chinese and French", INALCO.

Each winner will receive a prize worth € 5,000, consisting of a sum of € 2,000 and a funding of € 3,000 for a research stay (in Paris for foreigners or with PSL's international partners for the French PhD). The winners will also give three seminars in three partner institutions of PSL.
