IRIS Scripta-PSL launches a call for proposals

Le

The Strategic and Interdisciplinary Research Initiative (IRIS), "Scripta-PSL: History and practices of writing" aims to federate research on history and writing practices within PSL.

As a result of the association of six PSL entities (EPHE, EFEO, ENC, ENS, EHESS, Collège de France) and IRHT (Institut de recherche et d'histoire des textes) institutions, Scripta-PSL integrates interdisciplinary scientific approaches such as:

  • basic sciences of writing (paleography, codicology, epigraphy, book history, diplomacy)
  • humanities and social sciences (linguistics, history, anthropology, etc.).
  • digital humanities (digital literature, digital paleography, etc.) and computational sciences (computer vision, automatic learning, etc.).

On the occasion of its launch on October 4th, the IRIS Scripta-PSL History and practices of writing communicates its first call for proposals, addressed to all researchers working in the laboratories that are attached primarily to one of the members of PSL.

Three main criteria will guide the evaluation of submitted projects:

  • Adequacy to the IRIS scientific theme and contribution to the research axes of IRIS.
  • Ambition, scientific quality and originality of the project.
  • Federating character for PSL and contribution to the national and international visibility of the IRIS.

It should be noted that special attention may be paid to the interdisciplinary and cross-institutions nature of the project and that projects involving rare or extra-European languages or scripts will also be encouraged. In addition, those who have submitted a proposal in the framework of the call for proposals for February 2016 may, if they so wish, may submit them again within the framework of this call for proposals by updating it, if it’s happened. Finally, the funding granted by IRIS is understood as a seed fund and / or complementary resource to other financing, or as support for more specific projects.

The names of the selected projects will be announced at the end of January 2018.
