MT180 2022: meet the two PSL finalists

Pablo Chourreu (ENSCP - PSL) and Thomas Guieysse (ENS - PSL) are Université PSL's champions for the national semi-final of the MT180 competition on April 8 and 9 at the CNRS' Institut des systèmes complexes in Paris.

For the 9th "My Thesis in 180 seconds" competition, 12 candidates were competing to represent PSL in the national semi-finals. Each of them presented their research project in 180 seconds to the MT180 PSL jury, which included:

  • Hugo Lachuer, PSL MT180 2021 winner
  • Garole Gresse - Head of the PSL graduate program in Finance
  • Anne-Marie Turcan-Verkerk - Head of the PSL Outreach Department
  • Anne Varenne - Head of the PSL graduate program in Chemistry
  • Nelly Manoukian - Director of Communications at PSL (president of the jury)

Following the 12 presentations, the juries and the audience deliberated then awarded the prizes:

  • 1st Jury Prize: Pablo Chourreu, PhD student, Chimie ParisTech - PSL, Nouvelles voies de synthèse éco-compatibles d'actifs phéromonaux par couplage croisé ferrocatalysé : développement, applications industrielles et aspects mécanistiques.
  • Audience Prize: Thomas Guieysse, PhD student ENS - PSL, La cascade mécanistique de l'Anosognosie: Approche multimodale axé sur l'intéraction entre le "self-monitoring" et le traitement émotionnel chez des patients atteints de maladies neurodégénératives.
  • 2nd jury prize: Paul Robin, PhD student ENS - PSL, Ionic transport in confinement and neuromorphic systems.

Pablo Chourreu and Thomas Guieysse will represent Université PSL at the national semi-final of the competition on April 8 and 9 at the CNRS' Institut des systèmes complexes in Paris. At this stage, 16 national finalists will be selected to meet on May 31, 2022 for the national final at the Bourse du Travail in Lyon.
