SDSN France Network: Universities and grandes écoles committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Le

Hosted by Université PSL, Kedge Business School and Université de Cergy-Pontoise (UCP), the SDSN France Network (Sustainable Development Solutions Network) was launched on November 13, 2018 to get the scientific community and the different agents in civil society, such as charitable organizations and public figures involved in the sustainable development goals.

In 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of Agenda 2030. The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was founded in 2012 under the aegis of the United Nations to have researchers and experts throughout the world involved to define practical solutions and accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.

Already established in several countries (Germany, Canada, Sweden, etc.), the SDSN is now expanding to France and its mission is to facilitate the emergence of solutions with a positive impact in order to accelerate economic, energy and social transitions within the framework of SDOs. PSL University, Kedge Business School and the Université de Cergy Pontoise have joined forces to form the head of this network. SDSN France pursue five objectives:

  • To develop fundamental research and teaching about SDOs.
  • Promote these teaching and research initiatives to public authorities, international organizations, companies and NGOs.
  • Encourage cooperation between the various stakeholders.
  • Involve sponsors in the financing of projects from French universities.
  • Disseminate and improve knowledge of sustainable development issues to the greatest number of people.

The SDSN France network was officially launched on 13 November at Université PSL, with a conference by economist J. Sachs entitled "Sustainable development objectives: accelerating change" and the organization of workshops bringing together academics from all disciplines, institutions and members of civil society (French Development Agency, Comité 21, French Students' Network for Sustainable Development, CGE, CPU, Novethic, Global Compact France, etc.) about energy transition, education for sustainable development, sustainable finance, sustainable cities, sustainable value chains, the market and corporate responsibility.
