Université PSL new vice-presidencies : Sabine Cantournet & Isabelle Ryl

The PSL Board of Directors meeting of March 14, 2024 validated the appointments of Sabine Cantournet and Isabelle Ryl, to the respective positions of Vice President Education at Université PSL and Vice President Artificial Intelligence. They take up their positions on March 15, 2024.

The Executive Committee of Université PSL welcomes a new vice-presidency dedicated to Artificial Intelligence.

About Sabine Cantournet

Sabine Cantournet is a research director at the Centre des Matériaux des Mines Paris - PSL (CDM CNRS/Mines Paris - PSL), specializing in the physical and mechanical modeling of elastomers and thermoplastics. After completing her thesis at Sorbonne University (2003), she joined the Centre des Matériaux as a teacher-researcher. In 2006, she moved to MIT as an assistant professor, and continues this collaboration by co-supervising theses.

Sabine Cantournet is the founder and holder of the DEEP Industrial Chair in Elastomer and Polymer Design, in partnership with ESCPI Paris - PSL and HUTCHINSON (2017). She also created and directs a Carnot Mines project federating 7 research centers around Polymer Recyclability (2020 & 2023). She is co-author of 45 publications and 3 patents. Head of General Engineering at Mines Paris - PSL from 2014 to 2022, she was also responsible for a number of teaching-related missions (Stanford-France exchange program, Research-Entrepreneurship trimester).

In March 2024, she became Vice-President of Education and Equal Opportunities at Université PSL.

 

About Isabelle Ryl

Isabelle Ryl is Professor of Computer Science. She is co-founder and director of PRAIRIE (PaRis Artificial Intelligence Research InstitutE) at Université PSL, one of the 4 Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Institutes accredited as part of the national strategy.

Isabelle Ryl holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Lille, and has spent over 12 years of her career at Inria, in various management positions. She is an expert in innovation issues, particularly artificial intelligence and was a member of the French Innovation Council (interministerial body in charge of defining the major orientations and priorities of innovation policy). She is also a Knight of the Legion of Honor.

In March 2024, she became Vice President Artificial Intelligence at Université PSL.
