Its research is focused in three areas and three sets of strengths at PSL:

  • Politics in a globalized space
  • Beyond Europe: connections, dependencies, and historical dynamics
  • Long-term global prospects through the lens of Asia

Calls for Proposals

Global Studies has issued two calls for proposals: one topic-specific, for any area of humanities and social sciences; and another open-ended, for projects in any discipline that interact closely with the humanities and social sciences. These calls for proposals are designed to fund initiatives including but not limited to workshops and lectures, data collection (particularly field assignments), and database creation.

Eligibility criteria:

- Projects must reflect one of the three categories for the topic-specific CFP and the general aim of the IRIS for the open-ended CPF;
- The owner of the project must be a statutory member of the PSL community, and the project must entail collaboration between at least two research teams at two PSL institutions (excluding EPST);
- Researchers associated with PSL centers are not eligible to receive funding under this call for proposals. For field assignments, only statutory members of PSL are eligible. For workshops or symposia, the organizer must be a statutory member of PSL. Costs related to accommodating non-PSL member speakers are eligible for funding.

The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2016 for the open-ended CFP and December 31 for the topic-specific CFP.
